We're all going on a (pause) Summer Holiday

Blogging might a step back for me for a week and a bit - off to sunny Rye on the Mornington Pennisular for a beachy week for family - we are also doing up a bungalow in the backyard of my parents' holiday home, so it is also a renovation week! We now have electricity!!! Friends have asked if it is in the wilderness somewhere??!! but no, it is on the main road right across from the sweetest family friendly bay beach. Then, hubbie and I are going to Christchurch NZ for the weekend!!! But more on that later!!!

My quilting projects to date....

I want to use this blog as a place to record my sewing projects and 'document' the processes (how many s's are there?) no matter how slow and painful it may be to me (and others)- only just a newbie to patchwork and quilting, I have immersed myself into the craft. I love the fabric that I get to stash away and the many projects that run through my mind, as I shelve away my collections.

At the moment, I have 4 quilt tops on my staircase banister, waiting patiently for someone? to finish them off. I have realised that my banister looks totally wrong if there is not a quilt top hanging off it! It is just the right size for a lap quilt. I find that lap quilt sizes suits me - they are not so big that a project starts to bore me, and yet big enough to allow lots of ideas to grow (and great to cuddle under on the couch). I don't make quilts to put on beds - we only have so many beds in the house, so I feel that my quilt making inspiration would soon run out. Making lap or wall hangings allows more quilts to blossom. The only problem is that I keep looking at more material and wanting to make more quilts. I find that the material inspires me, more than a pattern. The pattern is secondary to my need to create. Does anyone else feel that way?

I'll post some piccies of my UFO's soon!

My First!!!

Hello World; my name is Bronwyn and I am actually typing this as my very own first posting. Having only just found the land of Blog, I am quite addicted to keeping an eye of other people's life. I don't remember how I stumbled onto someone's blog, but somehow, it happened, and the endless, mind swirling possibilities of exploring more and more blogs, gathered me up in its whirlwind and swept me away!

Just in case you are reading this and wondering 'but what's your take on life?' -this blog is mainly a record of my crafty endeavours, with touches of life as we know it, in wonderful Melbourne, Australia. Quilting, sewing, kids projects, school stuff, lots of other interesting (to me) quirks. I really enjoy going through my long and growing list of others sites to see what have they made, or to see snow covering their world while we swelter in 39C (over 100F), with water restrictions (drought).

I thought over my blog title for days, in conjunction with the possibility of having my own blog (scary!), and decided that our family dog, Pippi Longstocking (Pippi for short), an adorable 'Good' Whippet, would be my inspiration (as well as the family joke of Devo's song - Whip It Good!) Pippi Longstocking (the original) by Astrid Lindgren was one of my favs, growing up; I loved that she was the strongest girl in the world, and had a horse (my dream) which she carried!!! and lived a free life -great character!

I'm not the greatest writer in the world - 'word struggle' is one of my middle names, but once I get proficient with photos, my blog will look great and hopefully, you will come back to see how I'm going with my many UFO's, as well as how my world looks through the windows.

I would love to hear from anyone, about anything! Anything!!! Does that sound desperate - well, it is, maybe a little? No, I'm not desperate for my words and pictures to be read and absorbed and be validated, just documented for my own record, and maybe something somewhere might lighten someone else's day and give you a Whippetly Good feeling!
